The notion of VMV has been used widely for organisation development and we contend that specifying VMV is particularly important for humanitarian-orientated programmes or projects, as these invariably require that value judgements be made. For this reason, it is important to clarify and share with others, what would be a great outcome from an assignment (vision), why this will contribute to the social good (mission) and what is important (and not important) about how we proceed (values). A deeply understood VMV can be seen as a core requirement for those who undertake heritage initiatives.
